Patanjali

Picture

Patanjali is known for his commentary on the Yoga Sutras, in which he boldly proclaims "Yoga is the cessation of the thoughts".  The advanced seeker knows intuitively that mind is not an organ but an action that can be controlled with practice.  Cessation of Mind activities or thoughts is Yoga.  Asanas are means to achieve this.
