Lahiri Mahasaya (1828 - 1895)

Picture

Sri Lahiri Mahasaya is the guru of Sri Yukteshwar Giri, who in turn is the guru of Paramahamsa Yogananda.  He was a disciple of "Babaji", the deathless master who lives in the Himalayas near Badrinath and is visible only to a few select, extremely advanced individuals.  Lahiri Mahasaya himself is known to have performed countless miracles such as being in two places at the same time, curing people of extreme sicknesses, etc.  He was also a good friend of the 300 year plus old Trialinga Swami of Benaras (Varanasi).  There are many enthralling stories of both these individuals that are beautifully documented by Paramahamsa Yogananda in the "Autobiography of a Yogi"
